About These Terms

These terms govern your use of this website and, together with any engagement letter or fee agreement issued to you, the professional services provided by Lindung Legal ("the firm", "we", "us"). The firm is a legal practice registered and operating in Malaysia, with its principal office at 54, Jalan Light, 10200 George Town, Penang.

By accessing and browsing this website, or by submitting an enquiry through the contact form, you agree to the terms set out here. If you do not agree, please refrain from using this website or submitting an enquiry. These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia.

Website Use

This website is provided for informational purposes and to allow prospective and current clients to contact the firm. The content published here describes the firm's areas of practice, provides general background on insurance law concepts, and explains the firm's processes. Nothing on this website constitutes legal advice, and no lawyer-client relationship is created by your use of this website alone.

You may access and read the content on this website for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not reproduce, republish, download, or distribute any part of the content without the firm's written consent, except as permitted by applicable law.

We reserve the right to amend, remove, or supplement the content on this website at any time without prior notice. We make reasonable efforts to keep information current, but do not warrant that any content is complete, accurate, or up to date at the time of your reading.

No Legal Advice

The materials and explanations published on this website — including any description of policy mechanics, legal processes, or claim procedures — are provided as general background reading only. They do not constitute legal advice and should not be relied upon as such.

Insurance disputes are highly fact-specific. The outcome of any matter depends on the particular policy wording, the circumstances of the claim, and the applicable law and regulation at the relevant time. A written initial view provided by a practitioner in response to an enquiry through this website is a preliminary and non-binding assessment only; it does not create a retainer or establish the firm as your legal representative.

A formal legal engagement is established only upon the execution of a written engagement letter and, where applicable, the payment of an agreed fee or retainer.

Enquiry Submissions

When you submit an enquiry through this website's contact form, you are inviting the firm to consider whether your matter may fall within our practice areas. A practitioner will review the submission and provide a written initial view, typically within the same or next working day.

Submitting an enquiry does not create a legal relationship or retainer with the firm. The firm reserves the right to decline to accept any matter at its discretion, including where a conflict of interest exists, where the matter falls outside the firm's practice, or where no formal engagement agreement has been executed.

Do not submit any confidential documents through the website contact form. If you wish to share documents for review, a practitioner will advise on secure transmission arrangements after initial contact has been established.

Professional Standards

The firm's practice is regulated under the Legal Profession Act 1976 (Malaysia). Advocates and solicitors of the firm are subject to the rules and professional obligations of the Malaysian Bar and are bound by the solicitors' duty of confidentiality in respect of client matters.

Fee arrangements, scope of work, and terms of engagement applicable to a professional matter are set out in the engagement letter issued to the client for that matter. These website terms do not modify or supersede any engagement letter that has been separately agreed.

Fees and Payment

The indicative fee ranges displayed on this website are provided as a general orientation for prospective clients and do not constitute a binding fee quote. The actual fees applicable to any matter are agreed in writing in the engagement letter, which will set out the basis of charging, billing frequency, and payment terms.

Fees displayed are exclusive of any applicable taxes, disbursements, court fees, or third-party costs unless otherwise stated in the engagement letter. Payment terms and consequences of late payment are as specified in the engagement letter.

Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by Malaysian law, the firm's liability in connection with this website — including any information, content, or preliminary views provided through it — is limited to direct loss actually incurred and does not extend to consequential, indirect, or economic loss.

The firm does not accept liability for loss or damage arising from reliance on any content published on this website, from technical interruptions or unavailability of this website, or from third-party websites linked from this website.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable Malaysian law.

Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including text, layout, structure, and design — is the property of Lindung Legal or is used with appropriate rights. The firm's name and logo are not to be reproduced or used in any form without written consent.

You are permitted to print or download individual pages for your personal, non-commercial reference. Any reproduction for commercial purposes, redistribution, or use in derivative works requires prior written consent from the firm.

External Links

This website may include links to external websites, including court portals, Bank Negara Malaysia, the Malaysian Bar, and other regulatory or professional bodies. These links are provided for convenience only. The firm does not endorse, control, or accept responsibility for the content, privacy practices, or availability of external websites. Your use of any external site is at your own discretion and is governed by the terms of that site.

Cookies and Data

This website uses cookies to support basic functionality and, with your consent, to collect anonymous analytics data. For details of how we use cookies, please see our Cookie Policy. For how we handle personal data collected through this website, please see our Privacy Policy.

Amendments

These terms may be updated from time to time. The current version will be available on this page, with the Last Updated date shown at the top. Continued use of this website after any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. We recommend checking this page periodically if you use this website regularly.

Governing Law and Disputes

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from these terms or from the use of this website that cannot be resolved by discussion shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Malaysian courts.

Where a dispute concerns a professional engagement, the dispute resolution mechanism set out in the engagement letter for that matter will apply.
